Here Comes the Bride...

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Chances are, if you are visiting this page... you are in the process of planning your  wedding day.  This day will be one of the most memorable days of your life. Not just for you the "Bride and Groom", but for your friends, family and loved ones as well. It is a celebration for all. Having a beautiful cake is such an important part of that day. You have the opportunity to make it a lasting impression! It will not only serve as a delicious dessert for your guests to enjoy, but it also represents a unique example of your own styles and personalities.

Often, the cake is one of the first things that your guests will view upon entering your reception, and the last thing they will most likely eat before leaving. There are endless options available to make your cake as personalized as you wish.. Choose from the most basic to the most elaborate of designs. Together, we will customize the perfect cake, to fit your style and your budget. We'll design that "one-of-a-kind" cake to fufill your every dream of your perfect wedding day.

I'm sure you have many questions about where to begin with the  planning of "the cake", such as... How far in advance should I reserve a baker? How are wedding cakes priced? What kind of deposits are required? What options do we have? How many servings should I provide? Can we do a cake tasting? How can I set up a consultation? and so on....

Well, I am here to help you. I will answer all of these questions,

and hopefully help make the planning of the cake an enjoyable task.

SO LET'S GET STARTED

How far in advance should I reserve a baker?  Realistically, the sooner the better. As with all of your vendors,  the "best ones" will be the first to get booked, so don't put it off! As soon as you have your date, you can start your search. You should plan on actually securing your Baker, at the VERY LEAST, 6 months in advance, especially if you are getting married during the peak months of wedding season. I don't know about other bakers...but I do know , that here at Classy Cakes, we regularly  book weddings up to a year and a half in advance . If you have your date and are interested in reserving it,  there is really no such thing as too early (in my books, anyway).  Just contact us to set up a free consultation and cake tasting.

What kind of deposits are required? In order to secure your wedding date, a $100 non-refundable  deposit must be put down. No decisions have to be made at that time, that is just to guarantee  your date will be held.

How can I set up a consultation?  Consults are by appointment only. They are typically done during the week here at the shop. Consults usually take about an hour or so. If you are an out of town bride, and need to make other arrangements for your consult due to your travel dates, just let me know, and we can work something out.  You can just give us a call to schedule your  consultation time. We do require at least one weeks notice,  and NO consultations are done during the month of June.

Can we do a cake tasting at our consultation? Of course you can. You can choose two different cake flavors  and two different filling flavors,  free of charge, Any additional sample cakes are  $8.00  per cake. We will need to know your choices one week before our appt. date.  Also, Please let us know at the time you schedule your tasting and consult, if more than the bride and groom will be attending.
Please see our full list to choose from at the bottom of this page

What options do we have?  There are really so many options when choosing your wedding cake. You can do a two tier, three tier, four tier, five tier, cupcakes, dessert cakes, full dessert bar set up, centerpiece cakes, a smaller "show cake" and extra sheet cakes for the back...  Round, square, petal, oval... plain, filled, colored, white, fondant or buttercream...classic style, modern, unique, rustic...and the list goes on and on. This is why we do not just have a "standard set price list". Each cake requires a different amount of cost and labor  to it,  The exact details will determine the final cost.

How do I know what size cake I should get?  Well, each size and shaped cake will serve a different amount. For example a 14 round cake will serve 65, however a 14" square cake will serve 85.  There are a few "standard sized" cakes that I usually recommend, depending on the size of the wedding.  (PLEASE SEE IMAGES BELOW)
I always encourage you to take advantage of the "extra sheet cake servings" option, This could potentially save you quite a bit, since they are priced at a lower cost (and your guests will never know).
Obviously this is more beneficial to those that are having a large wedding, over those with a small guest list.

How are wedding cakes priced?  To get the most accurate quote, I would highly suggest setting up a free consultation, but just to give you an idea... Cake are priced "per serving".  Again, depending on the details...this cost will range anywhere  from $5.00 per serving-$6.50 per serving . If you are going to be using the "extra sheet cake servings" in the back, these servings are  at a lower cost of $3.75 per serving (filled), or $3.50 per serving (for plain).  ***please note***, if you are planning on doing this option of using the extra sheet cake servings, these servings MUST  be purchased through Classy Cakes. You cannot get a show cake from us, and then serve a grocery store  or family friend made sheet cake to your guests.  This action would result in us not leaving our cake there at the reception site.

How many servings should I plan for? So many people say to me "well, not everybody eats cake", therefore they want to short themselves servings...My reply to that is: Yes, indeed you are correct, not everybody will eat cake, HOWEVER, everybody will be SERVED cake. The  waitstaff will not walk around to each guest and "ask" them if they would like a piece of cake. Whether  the guest is sitting at the table,  or not, if there was a place setting there, they will be served a piece of cake. They may be in the rest room, or chatting with someone at the bar, or dancing at the time, but at some point, they will return to their seat, and may want that piece of cake.  I also say, that if the cake is "good" (which mine always are ), then people WILL eat it. Half of the time, the cakes at weddings are terrible, whether it be extremely dry, or just plain blah, if one person says "oh, this cake is horrible", then chances are others at the same table might not eat their piece...but it also works in reverse as well. If one guest, says "oh my goodness, this cake is incredible", then chances are everyone will give it a try.  So it is always recommended that you provide enough servings, for all of your guests.

Do you deliver the cakes? Yes, we will deliver and set up your wedding cake. We do charge a fee ranging from $65-$95 depending on how far away your venue is. The cake is typically delivered 2 hours prior the start of the reception. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to communicate this with your reception hall, and make us aware if there are any issues with the anticipated delivery time.
